With public education at a significant crossroads, rural schools find themselves in a precarious position. We will discuss the teacher shortage, school funding reform (equity/equality), an outdated delivery system, and the constant notion that consolidation will solve our problems. Presenters: David Ardrey, Executive Director, Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS); Edwin Shoemate, Board President, AIRSS and Superintendent, Cobden CUSD 17; and Patrick Twomey, Superintendent, Macomb CUSD 185.
